Traveling by road in Namibia:
Roads in Namibia are of a high standard with international road signs. We drive on the left hand side and the speed limits in inhabited areas are 60km per hour and open roads 120km per hour. On gravel roads however one should not exceed 80km per hour as handling of the vehicle becomes very difficult.
Caution should be taken of antelope, warthog, kudu and livestock as they often graze along the side of the road.
Use headlights and spotlights if necessary in dusty and or foggy conditions.
Tyre pressures and fuel levels should be verified frequently as service stations and fuel are in short supply in remote places.
Always carry an adequate water supply on all trips through Namibia.
